About The New Mercies Podcast
Welcome to New Mercies, a podcast that takes you behind the scenes and onboard the mission of Mercy Ships.
Mercy Ships is a faith-based non-profit that operates a fleet of hospital ships, staffed with volunteers who bring life-changing surgeries to people who need it most. After 40 years in service and over 100,000 surgeries performed, we have a lot of stories to share! And what better way to share these amazing testimonies of hope and healing than through the people themselves, the ones whose lives have been transformed. So, we invite you to join us each week as we sit down with a volunteer, patient, or partner of Mercy Ships and hear about how the mission of Mercy Ships has impacted their life.
Inspired by the stories you’re listening to? You too can join us on this once in a life-time adventure! Mercy Ships volunteers range from teachers, electricians, engineers, and photographers, to nurses, surgeons, and doctors. See how you can find your place onboard at mercyships.org/volunteer.
Meet The Hosts
Raeanne, her husband and 3 children joined Mercy Ships in 2019. After leaving everything behind in Southern California, they boarded the Africa Mercy in Las Palmas and made their first sail down to Dakar, Senegal for their first field service. Onboard, Raeanne volunteered in the communications department and later in chaplaincy, when not caring for her three children, Emma (15), Georgia (15) and Mack (12). With a passion for creating memorable moments, Raeanne enjoyed coordinating community events for the crew and leading Bible studies onboard. Currently working remotely from Northern California, Raeanne is a Staff Writer /Editor for U.S. Marketing, and her husband Roger serves as Ambassador Engagement Manager.
Ally and his wife Amy joined Mercy Ships in 2013, stepping onto the ship for the first time in the Republic of Congo.
Ally has served in a few different roles onboard over the years, most recently as the Operations Director on the Africa Mercy. Ally served in Congo, Madagascar, and Benin, before taking a break from ship life to welcome their son Louis to the world. Louis joined Ally & Amy back on the ship in Guinea & Senegal. Last year the family returned to the UK to welcome a second son, Toby. Currently Ally works as Director of Global Recruiting from the UK. As a keen runner and worship leader, Ally always found ways of engaging with the community onboard, even teaching himself how to steam milk like a pro so he could serve coffees to the Crew!
